Lotus symbolizes the blessing of achieving Purification of Karma.
Lian Hwa Ru Yi is a greeting that transcends the fetters of life and death. Buddhist and Taoist customs have their own Doctrines of Blossoming Lotus, and the lotus is a holy symbol for both especially the Guan Yin Pu Men Pin in the Saddharmapundarika Sutra, which lies at the core of Chinese culture. According to the Sutra, continuous chanting to Guan Yin (Bodhisattva Avaloketesvara) is the key to freedom from the miseries and sufferings of life. In the Pure Land belief, Guan Yin will then reincarnate as a retinue of the Amitabha Buddha to lead the deceased to eternal Pure Land.
